Job SummaryCenterPoint Energy is looking for a Staff Engineer High
Voltage Planning to join our High Voltage Planning Team, located in
Houston, Texas. You will have the ability to: perform advanced
transmission system analyses that may include the following types
of studies: steady-state power flow, short circuit, transient
stability, voltage stability, and transfer capability.Essential
FunctionsTo be successful in this role you will:
- Perform power flow studies to determine system improvements
needed to maintain transmission system reliability.
- Perform short circuit studies to determine system improvements
needed to maintain transmission system reliability.
- Perform stability studies to determine system improvements
needed to maintain transmission system reliability.
- Update power flow models to reflect changes in topology,
resources and load.
- Represent CenterPoint Energy on applicable ERCOT and NERC
working groups, user groups and cross-functional teams.
- Ensure compliance to applicable NERC standards, produce
compliance reports and participate in audit activities.
- Work cooperatively and jointly with other departments within
the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Education
DescriptionYour background includes:
- Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an
accredited college or university Experience
- Requires a minimum of eight years of electric utility or power
engineering experience that includes performing engineering
calculations and/or design
- Requires a Professional Engineer's license in the State of
Texas or a license from another state and the active pursuit of a
